I am confused-- did you have a forwarding address? If you kept your N.Y. address without a forwarding address, since you obviously couldn't be "served" there, and your credit reports showed your N.Y. address. Then the time you spent "away" could be "tolled" which means it wouldn't count towards any SOL for a lawsuit. (unless you were in the service)
