Validating the debt does not restart anything, even if they really do send absolute proof.

What did they send you as validation? Probably a computer printout. It seems like validation to yu because you know the debt is yours, to start with.

If it really wasn't yours, and they sent a computer printout as proof that it was, would you accept it? Not hardly. I can print up a statement and say it proves you owe me money when you don't ;)
