Here is a good one. My ex-wife took my daughter to an ER instead of the regular doctor for a common fever. Everything checked normal - including their exhorbant costs.

I wasn't told about this until I received a bill from the Hospital. Seems as I was listed as the responsible party based upon insurance.

Well the hospital never filed on the insurance and my stance was:

1. File the insurance
2. Take the reminder/split it in half
3. I will pay

The Hospital wanted to hold me fully accountable for the entire amount and would not file on the insurance. This was over two years ago.

The debt was turned over to collection and they posted it to my credit reports.

I am now fighting the credit reporting agencies with the tactic that I did not personally receive service, that I did not agree with or was consulted about the charges, and that I did not sign a written agreement.

The credit reporting agencies took the side of the debt collectors after their "verification investigation" and I have filed a new dispute requests with a disclaimer to be attached to the negative information.

I also have filed dispute requests to the debt collectors.

Does anyone have suggestions for me? I really don't mind settling my end as the services were rendered to my daughter but they have waited too long to file a claim on my insurance and they want to saddle me with the whole debt.
