question about notification....

I am currently going through a dispute with the way Equifax is dealing with my GulfState tradeline. They delete it and then put it back when GulfState reports again. I understand that Equifax is suppose to notify me within 5 days of putting it back. Here is my question, I subscribe to their online service where you get automatic email notifications of changes to your credit file... is that good enough or do they have to send me something through the mail? If I have to take them to court I dont want them saying "oh well you belong to our service so you should have known that way" Any thoughts?? thanks
