A little long - sorry I had posted a few weeks ago about winning my dispute with Gulf State (how naive I am) and they were deleted from my credit report - I just found out they were deleted for non-verification on ONLY ONE report - the other they updated. I am unable to get a report from one CRA - different story.... I had paid the account off in 1999 had carbons of my checks and bank statements showing it had cleared, which I sent to Gulf State (which I know I shouldn't have done - but know better now). Anyway, I just can not get them off the other credit report. I called Citibank today to get a "paid/settled" letter and you are not going to believe this (or maybe you have seen it before)? Citibank says they don't sell their accounts, only assigns them out and denies selling the account to Gulf State or any other company affliated with them. The rep from Citibank called Gulf State while I was on the phone, came back on with me and suggested that I file a complaint with them through the FCC and get myself an attorney to take them court. He also said what they were doing was illegal; trying to collect twice for an account already paid. I think he fell out of his chair when I told him that Gulf State also had sold the account. He told me he was going to send out my letter today and again urged me to get a lawyer. What the *!@% is going on with a creditor telling me to get a lawyer against a collection agency??????
