Rob, you are sooooooo right! CA's like Gulf State will only respond when you go after them with a process server. I think I've only heard of one or two people who got deletions from them without having them served. And I don't think anyone who did have them served ever had to go to court.

The letters are the foundation for suing if the CA (or whoever) breaks the law. What we do is "set them up." They know most people don't want to go to court, so they bluff right up to the end, and they break the law over and over.

I think people belive the letters have some magical power to make CA's do right. Not so, the letters give the CA's the opportunity to screw up so we can sue them. That's the real point. Sometimes the letters work - those people are just lucky.

Court gets results, AG's get results. The FTC gets you nothing - by the time they get around to suing, we will all be dead and it won't matter.

So I have to say, you are one of the people who "gets it." LOL.

Linda
