Approximately 2 years ago, I fell behind on payments to a personal loan I had with Beneficial. Instead of agreeing to getting the account caught up, they let me take out another loan, to sort of start over with a clean slate. Shortly after that I lost my job, and had to take a job earning $3 less an hour, and could not afford to pay. However, since the new loan went into effect, they never sent me any statements in the mail or payment books for that matter. After 6 months, they contacted me and said they wanted the balance of the loan in full. Last time I knew, a collection agency had the debt. Is there anything I can do to defend myself if this gets taken to court, since they did not provide me with any documentation or payment books?
