Technically, you always owe the money, even after it has been charged off, unless it is discharged in bankrupcty.

I have seen Why Chat post that it is illegal to pursue stale debts (past the SOL), but I don't know which law prohibits it. He can probably enlighten us on that one. ;) Then you can send them C&D and quote the law to them.

Not that they care about the law. I posted on another board qbout Sherman Acquisitions advertising on the website that they purchase discharged bk debts, and that IS illegal. I don't know how they can do it but it's right there in HTML!!!
