I am in the process of refinanceing our house, and when I made the application it was approved with conditions. There where 3 things on my credit that needed to show a zero balance. Well we got reciepts that showed 0 on 2 of them but the 3rd we couldn't.
The company went out of business and was bought by another, and they couldn't find any record of it. So the morgage company said don't worry about it they would just contest it and that would be it. Well we got a date to close and the day before lo and behold they find record of it, and the closing is off until proof of a 0 balance again. The record they found was where it was charged off, in 99. We get mail from this same company wanting to give us credit. My question is if it was charged off do I still owe them the money..
