My advice to John was just for John - when you're dealing with old debt, it's different. This is NOT old debt - less than a year since he defaulted. He should not tick these guys off. after his debt is older he can send the C&D letter. Just not yet.

See the difference? If GS has your debt, it is different. Collection agencies are different. This is really a lawyer, and creditors who want to sue him. His situation is totally different.
