Credit bureaus demographically based

It is my understanding that a lot of the information that is sent to different credit bureaus is based on the demographic region that you live in. For example, a credit union based in North Carolina may be more apt to report to Equifax as compared to Transunion or Experian. Therefore, what is the geographical dispersion that the credit bureau agencies generally cover.
