Utility bills can and will show up on your credit if you don't pay them. PG&E reports direct to the CRA's...(I have a collection on mine for only $38 that I did not know about) Phone companies will report and sell and resell your account to every scumsucking collection agency they can find and then the CA's will seperatly report you...There are very few accounts that you can not pay and not have your credit adversely affected...the differece is that utilities and such don't report anything unless you are deliquient (in other words you have no positive credit history for paying on time) while credit cards and loans report your payment history (both positive and negative) making them one of the few ways to get positive info on your reports...
