I left the US (California)and have not lived there for over 5 years. Before I left, I foolishly left MANY credit cards unpaid. Needless to say, I never had anyone call or write (no forwarding address) for collection. I have conveniently forgetten because I have never been reminded of my debt once. I have not filed US income taxes in this period... in other words, I have had no connection with the US. I am considering going back in a few years to TX, a homestead State. What should I do? Consult a TX attorney to see if I have an judgements agianst me? (I imagine I must) If not, the SOL would have taken over. If I do have judgements, I imagine harassment for collection will start as soon as I have a reisdential presence in the US. If a home and wages are protected in TX, what would one do with earnings? Not deposit them in a bank and keep them under the matress? I realize I have asked lots of questions. Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks!!
