I just realized you are talking about a debit card. Ba careful with these. As you can see, someone could clean out your account pretty easily. Not only that, car rental companies and hotels, etc, will often freeze huge amounts of money (to cover themselves if you should run up a big tab) and that can catch you off guard.

If you don't have a credit card, better to get a second debit card - like the AAA card, and use it, where you can limit the amount of money they have access to, and protect your checking account.
