About 3 years ago my wife ran up her credit card in Iowa with First Card. She moved to Neveda and quite making payments. The card was in her name only.

She lived there a year. I moved to Arizona and then she moved back in with me.

She started getting Debt collector letters from Alegis Group in Houston Texas.

Well I was mad at her about it because I was going to buy a house here and I always pay my obligations.

Alegis made her a settlement offer. So I paid it. It was about $5000.

6 months later I bought a house through Countrywide credit. We told em up front about her past defaultand that I had made good on it.

Countrywide called First Card about it and they finally agreed after a time that the debt had been settled. No problem.

Well she started getting notices about 3 months later.
I talked with them several times telling them the story. Then 3 months latter a different debt collector sent a letter.

Now they are calling my wife at home and at her place of work. They were theathening to garnish her wages and such.

They called here at home again and this time I talked to them. I told the woman that she was unduely harassing my wife that the debt had been settled. I told her I had a written agreement from Alegis for an amount and that I have a canceled check.

She got real huffy with me and continued to say my wife owed First Card.

So I told her I was going to get an Attorney and sue them for undue harassment.

Today I got another letter making us another settlement offer LOL!! They also state they are going file a judgement against usless we pay this.

So I want to hammer these but heads if I can because this is just a bunch of bull IMO.

Do I have a case and hows the easiest and cheapest way to take care of this?

Thanks for any help or comments!
