It is a request that the CA prove that they are authorized to collect a debt. They need 3 things to legally collect.

You signature on the original credit app. Complete accounting of the account from the time it was opened till the time the CA got a hold of it. The agreement between the creditor and the CA assigning the CA the Acct signed by the original creditor.

Most CAs will send a printout this isnt a validation. you want a copy of all the above stuff. There are samples at briefcase.yahoo.com/serenitybreeze.

The CA canot attempt to collect money, verify an acct with a CRA or report the acct until they send validation. If they try it is $1000 per violation. Make sure cease communitaction by phone is included. If they call write down the date and time of each call then hang up. Dont talk to them. Also dont give them ant information that you are not sure they have.

Send via CRRR only. Fax is iffy and most courts will not recognize e-mail as proof the message was recieved.
