I've been unemployed for a year, and as a result cannot pay some of my bills. I dont own any property, all I really have is debt.

My Citibank MC account was just charged off to United Recovery System. This MC is a bit like AMEX, so when I was unable to come up with a $2000 that the card was over the limit, they refused to accept partial payments and sent to to this collection agency. I spoke to the representative. I tried to explain my situation, but he initially refused to take anything less than 10% of the account, which is $1400. Then he agreed to accept $200 to hold the account for a few days, but still demands $1200 by the end of the month. He said that URS is not getting a penny of this, and if I dont come up wiht the money, they will just send it back to Citibank which then will sue me.

What should I do? Bankrupcy is not an option -- I am in a field where I will never get a job with it on my record. Ive already borrowed money from everyone I know. What is the logic of the this collection agency? I mean, there is nothing to be had by suing me and I am willing to work with them in some installments. Will they accept these installments if I persist in telling them that I cant come up with anything more?

Thank you very much.
