11 day waiting period?

My wife and i recently sold some land for $18,000. She deposited the check with Amsouth bank and they said that there was an 11 day business hold on our money. Someone please help!-we are using this money to move and can't afford to wait! According to regulation CC, part a,c,f,g we are entitled to that money after 3 business days. Legal advice please!
