I think your chances are *excellent* provided that you do indeed have the documentation of the validation requests you sent to the attorney in your state (this is the important one, b/c legally he is the CA), AND provided that there is a legitimate legal question about the debt you supposedly owe. He is required by law to validate your debt at your request, or he has to legally cease all collection efforts. I would spend ALOT of time reading these forums on-line, gathering as much info as you can and then write a letter to the attorney/CA letting him know that you are: 1)aware of your rights and 2)that he is in violation of the FDCPA and that you will be the one suing HIM, should he not conform to the law. His best weapon is the hope that you don't fully understand your rights. He will try to scare you into meeting his demands. Be prepared--if you know your rights, and understand how to apply them, you just may be the one collecting a settlement from him!
