If the debt wasn't yours you could have disputed it under the FCBA (Fair Credit Billing Act) with your creditor. Validation is for collection agencies,they are only required to stop collection efforts if the account is disputed in any way (validation counts as a dispute) but they are allowed to take legal action without responding to your validation request.What exactly, were you trying to accomplish?
