Southwestern Bell Mobile Systems set a collection against me 6 years ago. I have had the usual calls from collections agencies over the years as they sold it to another and another after I reused to pay. I had a cell phone at one time, but I did not have any information that matched the information they had against me as far as account\cell phone number in dispute and billing address. Obviously a dispute, but I am very patient. I really did not want the hassle of battleing it out and I am not worried about my credit rating. I know the staute for limitations for posting this debt to my credit rating is 7 years. I live in the state of Texas and was reading somehwere, depending on original grantor state, would depend on the limitation. I don't think SWBMS is around any more and can't find their information since they are one big SBC company. My question is how would I get this information of original grantor location without being a knock-off and bringing attention to myself (trying to avoid a legal action within the 7 year period) and if the grantor is the state of Texas where limitations is 4 years, can I just tell them (collections) statue of limitations and hang up?
