It is scarey because if they are really using the arbitration clause included with most credit card agreements they are circumventing the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, which is the consumer's only defense against collection agencies' tactics. So they would not have to prove that they have the right person, they would not have to prove that they are authorized to collect the debt - in short it gives them a way out of what we do to stop them from terrorizing people.
