Yes, they will still try to collect the debt. What state do you live in? The SOL may have expired. Since 7 years has not gone by they can still report this debt to the CRA's. The worst thing to do is talking to these lowlife's on the phone. Everything should be done in writing by reg.ret.rec. mail. First you need to validate the debt - then you can proceed from there if the debt is not yours. They are notorious for putting wrong information on whoever's name.
