I usually agree with Linda, but this time I think she missed a point! A collection agency is required by law under the FDCPA to send you a letter within 5 days of initial contact that includes the "mini-miranda" 30 day right to dispute. If they call back, tell them you are waiting for the FDCPA required letter from them, nothing else.
