The down side is that the chapter 13 bankruptcy does show on your credit reports for a period of 7 years.

As long as you discharge the chapter 13, credit restoration is a matter of making sure all items are showing correctly on your 
credit reports and restoring new and positive credit.

One thing to watch for, a chapter 13, when dismissed instead of discharged will show on your reports for a period of 10 years.
