I'm so frustrated and am not sure what to do, from reading past postings it sounds as though i am screwed! I am a 23 yr old from South Dakota trying to build her credit up, I'm moving into my own apartment and thought a loan would help pay for new furniture and such. It turns out that my credit is bad from a sprint phone card that was paid off in 1998. Sprint is saying that I didnt pay the amt of $97.79 (I dont have any records of paying this since it was back in '98) In '98 I did contact Sprint, they did confirm that payment was made in full and it was said that it would be taken care of.
November of 2001 it shows up on my credit report and I wasnt aware of such a thing till yesterday when I was at the bank applying for a loan.
I contacted Sprint today, they said for me to call Gulfstate Customer Service (which by reading all the postings, they say this is a no no) I explained the whole situation and they said that they were going to "investigate" everything and send me something in the mail in 30 days.
I'm really not sure what to do now, do I wait to see what they are going to send me? I told them I would be happy to pay right now just to get this silly thing off my credit report, but they wouldnt let me? They said i should wait for the mailing.
Can I ask acouple other things? Why is Sprint telling me that i owe $97.79, my credit report says I owe $98.00, and Gulfstate is telling me that I owe $113.85?? And why after this was all said and done and taken care of Why wasnt i sent anything from Gulfstate saying i owed them money?? Sprint didnt even send me anything... Advice is appreciated!
