HELP IDENTIFY THEFT!!!

My ex filed BK in '97, without my consent, he apparently had his "mistress" pretend to be me, and now my CR report says i filed "voluntary bk". I had a repo in early 2000 and thought that was why my credit was so bad now, but wow now i get it. From what i've learned it is up to ME, to prove this wasn't me??? How do i even begin, especially after so long??? Any ideas on what steps to take??? I am in Calif, and i do have the case # (well its the # that appears on my cr report, so i assume thats the case #). PLEASE HELP!!!
