Printing Name vs. Signature

I have just learned of this site and find the information of value to me. I have noticed that in response to several questions it has been advised to print your name verses signing your name when dealing with collection agencies. Why is this? I have just drafted several letters using this sites example letters, and I have signed my name on each. I am planning to mail these on Mon. 4/29. I now am worried and wondering if I should change my signature. Your advise and reason for not using my signature would be appreciated.
