dispute one CR with another?

I have a citibank CO that shows up on one CR - Experian. This is the one that was charged off long ago, was sold to a CA and I got scared into paying a few years ago. The CR states a CO in 12/96 and payments [ actually made to the CA ] in 8/98 with a final CO in 11/98.

I just validated my memory by finding an old TransUnion CR from 9/98 that gives a date of 1/94 as the chargeoff [ $874 ] as reported by citibank. Two lines above the CO is a new balance date of 7/98 reflecting a balance of $1274.

Would it be advantageous to use the old TransUnion CR to dispute the date of the CO with Experian?
