10,000 in credit card debt

Help!!! I am $10,000 in credit card debt at the age of 22! I had a bad work related injury about 2 years ago and stopped paying on my citibank mastercard completely. the balance has since jumped frpm $7000 to $10000 due to interest and i feel like if I dont do something soon, this will never end. The acct is now with the second collection agency. I'm afraid that a lawsuit may be next, and I'm sick of worring about my credit and the increasing balance, I feel like the longer I wait, the harder it will be to take care of this. Should i call a debt counselor, such as Profina??? I heard thats worse for your credit but I don't see how a balance increasing by $2000 a year will help. WHat could happen if I don't pay???? I am so stressed and worried over this I don't know what to do!
