CO reported differently to different CRAs

I had a citibank card that was charged off in 1/94 and have a TransUnion CR [ from 9/98 ] reflecting the CO. citibank then lists a new balance on the account in 7/98. The account is no longer on my TransUnion CR, but does show up on my Experian CR, except the CO is listed monthly, starting in 12/96 with a payment shown in 9/98 [ when a scuzzy CA scared me into paying ]. How should I go about disputing this? Should I ask Experian to validate that this is my account, then follow up with a copy of the TransUnion report if it is validated? Surely this indicated citibank is NOT reporting the CO consistently.
