Credit Collection Harassment

DCS Credit Collection Agency in Castro Valley, CA phoned my new home in Central Valley CA for the first time last week in attempt to collect on my husband's old school loan from 1985. The message did not identify the company or reason for the call, only the telephone number and the person's name. As our new home was purchased in Nov. 2001, all of our credit had been cleared in order to qualify for the loan and this school loan was not a any credit files, so we had no reason to consider any collection calls.

The real problems is that this company contacted six of our new neighbors, the city hall and local high school requesting that they go to our house, ring our doorbell and ask my husband to call them. We did not know any of these people, we had strangers asking our business and why is a collection agency phoning their home on several occasions. Mind you we had never received any mail/letters from these company although they had our address.

Please tell me what recourse we have against this seemingly invasive collection company. Thanks for any response.
