Thanks for responding.
Im in Michigan
Yes it is a Discover acct transfered to First select and they have the acct then handed it to a law firm in MI who then in turn have done this
The name of the company is Weltman Weinburg and Weis in Troy, MI
Last payment was in Jan this year, was 10 days late called to make arrangements but then they wanted 200 down and itleast 150 a month, I said I couldnt do it, and they called all the time with nasty messages, so I said you wont work on something I can afford, Im not paying. But when it went to the lawyers office they were willing to work.
Since then I made a $120 down payment last month. $70 a month until its paid off- is the arrangement, but they want me to sign a consent judgement?? ( I guess that is if I default)
I called the courthouse and explained the papers I had and if I had to show up she said no, only if I contest anything. SHe didnt look anything up on file. It appears to be real, it is stamped and Carbon copied with the courts info on it.
Yes included in the papers they served me read as follows-
Our clients have informed us you have agreed to make payment arrangements, please find the enclosed form consent to judgement to sign and file with the courts to conclude this matter.

My ? is judgements so affect credit ratings, that its bad enough as it is now, a judgement would really ruin it. Is a consent judgement worse than an actual jusdgement or all they all the same. SHould I just sign it , or should I contunue with payments? BAsically is it a good thing or are they trying to get me to sign it so they can go garnish my wages???
I dont have enough CC and debt to file bankruptcy nor do I want to do that. The 2800 with discover is the only cc that I have at this time.
Also do you think they would go for a lump sum payment if we offered? What is a good amount to offer? And how do I go about doing that?
Thank you for you response.
