Okay I sent a 'pay for removal' letter to a CA that is collecting on an emergency room bill from last year. i did not have insurance at the time and moved soon after the visit (like a week or two later)...I waited a few weeks to put in my forwarding address...so i never received a bill from the hospital...one month later i got a notice from a collection company that they had reported the bill (they split it in two..one for hospital and one for DR.) to the CRAs...this is the first bill i ever got....anyway, they have been threatening me with various things by mail etc. and so i sent them lindas 'pay for removal' letter offering to pay the full amount if they would remove the neg tradelines..that was two months ago...today i get a photocopied itemized bill that the hospital and the dr. sent to my old address..(it says that pt was notified and then mail was returned on it)and a printout with the amt. owned to collection company plus more interest...same bill they sent me before the letter just with $15 more interest...no response to my letter at all; no letter from a person even rejecting (or accepting) my offer...what the hell are they doing...is this supposed to be like a validation (though it is totally incomplete for that; there is nothing enclosed with my signature or any indication how the company got the account)...i did not even ask for validation....they did not indicate if they would work with me or not...should i assume not...what is my next course of action here??? Debt was inccurred in CA, now live in NC....original amt was for about $500.00 though is now up to over 600 due to the ursurous rate of interest they are charging...Should I call these bozos, send anouther letter or contact the hospital and try to work something out with them...this is the only bad thing on my credit report for the last 3 years and I would like to take care of it somehow....oh and i am not a medical bill deadbeat...i have anouther very large hospital and dr. bill from an operation and i worked out payment arrangements and have a perfect history for them..I just did not receive the bill for this till it was already reported.....sorry to go on and on....can anyone help???
