Negotiating with Original Creditors

I was unable to pay many of my Visa/Mastercards for several months and when I was able to resume some form of payment, mostly on a credit program with them, I was told my accounts have been closed and they have all been reported as delinquent from 90 - 120 days and more. There is a possibility that I will soon be able to pay many of these large balances in full but since my credit is now very damaged (score of 520), is there any way to negotiate with them to remove the negative remarks. Such as if I agree to pay ____ in full, as long as they remove the delinquency? When I've asked they all say 'NO' that no one can remove these remarks but I'm sure that is not true. Please advise as to whether this is possible and how to properly go about it. If not, I wonder if it is even worth paying them or just claiming bankruptcy if my credit is already so ruined. Another alternative could be settlements but that's not so great either. Any help would be appreciated on this. Thank you
