I have been in the process of cleaning up my credit for the past 3 months. I recevied a settlement offer from one credit bureau on behalf of AT&T. It states that AT&T has authorized them to accept less than the balance (which was approx. $180.00) and that the only way AT&T could ask for that balance was if I requested service from them in the future which I have not or will not. I received a bill from AT&T thanking me for my payment and that my remainding balance due was $69.00. I called AT&T and was transferred 5 times before I gave up. One man told me I had to pay it even though the settlement letter says that (I still have the letter) and one told me they weren't sure what to do. I haven't contacted the collection agency because they aren't open yet? Any ideas on this?
