My husband had bad credit from about 10 years ago that has now been removed from his credit report. During that period, he never settled his debts nor re-established credit. Now he is looking at an empty credit report. We want to buy a house using my credit which is very good - what is the best way to start rebuilding his credit without having me cosign (we don't want additional inquiries or accounts on my report)?

Also, one CRA listed Gulf State Credit as a request on his report back in 2000, but no one ever notified him. If the bad debt is removed from the CRA, can Gulf State Credit continue to show up as a "permissible purpose" inquiry? Thank you for any advice.
