The original creditor is required under the FCRA to report the FIRST delinquency,but this requirement didn't start until Dec.1997. On debts before that they can only report for 7 years after charge-off.You need to check your records and see when the account was charged off,then dispute it with the CRA's as being "over-age".The ca's can try to collect forever unless you send them a cease and desist.
