Thanks for the reply! I called Associates after seeing it listed as "paid" on Equifax and the customer service person even said it is paid. I know someone messed up the record keeping somewhere down the line because it should be no where near paid....BUT, who am I to argue with an almighty creditor? :-). The other accounts I disputed today are just old charge-offs that are truly paid so I'm just hoping that they'll let them go and not respond. A funny thing with one of the creditors: I paid the charge-off amount about a year ago and it is shown as "paid charge off", however, on Experian, the payment history portion shows this account to be reported as an active charge-off acount since the month I paid it off. What gives? On a bright note, my Experian score report states that a positive factor in my score is that I owe less than most people in my score range. Hmmmm....not sure how to take that....either I haven't been doing a good job keeping up with the Jones' or the average level of debt in this country is out of control.
