Am I screwing myself, disputing ????sorry long

Hi all, I dont what to do now, I disputed online with experian, a charge off, that they were reporting "PAID" joint acct with ex.spouse. due to come off 7/2002. I disputed on the grounds, I am NYC resident, NY law, max on CReport for 5yrs from deliquency on PAID charge offs/collections/judgments. well I did this late thursday nite, now I check the report, and the PAID notation is gone. just " cant find debtor till 4/15/98,, ( this isnt true, I contacted them in 11/97, they told me it was paid, it is still listed as "currently under investigation" but the paid is gone, is this normal ????? to remove a paid, I didnt dispute that it isnt paid!!! I recieved no email from them either,, what should I do.
