Two weeks ago I went to a dentist listed under my dental insurance plan for a routine cleaning covered by my insurance. When I was finished and went to the front desk, they presented me with a bill for $107. When I objected, they told me they were unable to clean my teeth and I had been given a "gross scale cleaning", which was not covered under insurance. This procedure was done without informing me in advance and without my consent. I reluctantly paid the bill (mistake #1!). Later that day I left two messages asking their office mgr to call me to discuss this. He never returned my call, and at that point I put a stop payment on the electronic transfer. Yesterday I got a form letter from TeleCheck, inferring that I am at fault, etc., which I am in the process of answering.

I would appreciate any advice as to the wording; I am sending a cc to the CEO of the dental group on the letter and asking him to reply also. Should I also send a copy to the Attorney General of my state? Am I just spinning my wheels in trying to resolve this? Anyone had experience or luck in dealing with TeleCheck?
