I have been considering filing chapter 7 but have run into a small problem. My grandfather put my name on a $12,000 CD and linked it to my checking account so that I could have free checking. Since January the CD hasn't shown up on my bank statement. I have seen 3 attorneys and each had different advice. One says I need to cash it in...but I can't do that because it isn't mine and I don't want to ask my grandfather because he would kill me. The other attorney said we could possibly ask my grandfather to remove my name from it when it comes up for renewal in July. That way I won't have signed anything over. He said he'd have to do more research. Any help or thoghts?? I'm in Florida.
