OK--I just got a letter form ZWICKER % ASSOCIATES: attorneys at law:

They are telling me that they have been retained by People's bank to assist in the collection of my account of $3221.13.

"our client seeks a non-litigious solution ..."

"Office shall assume validity of debt if we have not heard from you in 30 days."

"if furthermore, upon written request within 30 days this office shall provide you with the name and address of the original creidtor ...if different freom current creditor."

I had recently written city bank (certified, registered mail) saying I could not pay more than 20 dollars per month until Sept--and that I was looking for work. I asked them to stop with the late fees and interest during that time as it was my intent to pay off this debt....etc. but circumstances prevent me from paying in full at this time etc.

NOW WHAT?---I cannot realistically pay off this entire bill right now. Are these guys considered collection agencies???????? Can I or should I send them a cease and desist letter?

Thank you---

I can't think straight!!!

P.S. my biggest concern is my house--I have about 80,000 in equity. Can they take my house--or would there just be a lien on it so when it sells money would go to them? Also---does interest continue to accrue after a lien/judgement is made??? I would think not.
