Paying off charge offs

I have about 5 charged off items on my credit reports, the most recent is 2 years old the oldest is from 1992. the total from them all is under $4500 which I have the cash to pay them off. What would be the best way to pay these debts, I have already been offered settlements from two creditors for about half of what I owe them. If they are not going to remove them compleatly if I pay it in full then do I just take the settlements?
