If this was a supposed credit card debt, the time period (statute of limitations) they had to file after you FIRST were late is 4 years in Ga. If it isn't any longer on your credit report, it is over 7 years. This is likely a scam. If they call again, try and get a name and address and a phone #. They will likely give you a PO box and tell you to send a money order or ask for your ch.acct. #. DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY INFORMATION- these con-artists latch on to new credit inquiries and dredge up old outdated collection items just to scare people.
