You have no idea my own personal stories so please refrain from asuming you know my story.

Itoo have had credit cards since I was 18 years old, why was I so different from you as a eighteen year old? I never had creditors preying off of me? In fact I purchased my first home when I was 19 years old with 5,000 down and 8 years later made 30,000 profit.
The difference is, I have not gotten myself in a place where if my situation changes I can't pay my bills.
My credit cards carry small or 0 balances, I don't purchase something I can't afford.

Also for your information, I do know what its like, not been able to work. For the last three years I have not been able to as the country I live in doesn't allow foreigners to work. So, I know how difficult it is not to have a income, especially when your used to having one.
When I was younger and the kids were small I had a tight budget all the time, one Christmas we had 3 dollars left in the bank to our name.
I understand people lose jobs, and horrible things happen, but its hard to feel sympathetic to people that go out and purposely don't pay bills and declare BK because it suits them.
I felt in your case your debt load would have been workable for you to pay off, but you didn't give any thought to what I said. That's fine your prerogative, I was just trying to save you some hardship down the road when you regret filing.
Anyone that uses credit to buy food when they lose their income is making a horrible mistake. There are government funds available for this problem. Credit cards were not meant for this. You sign a contract where you promise to pay each month. If you lose your job and purchase items knowing you can't pay is wrong.

I am not on a soap box, I have just felt this message board to be quite hostile and mean, so I felt I should comment on something I do know about. As it seems members think that I don't know anything. They have made that very clear to me in prior posts.

So, good luck , I hope everything works out for you and your family.
