CR Listing Updates

How long should it take a credit listing to be updated? I spoke with a supervisor today and she said the update was sent on May 17th and to wait a month before pulling my credit reports. Is this not done electronically? This listing was supposed to have been updated upon clearence of a check, however that was almost 2 months ago, and they worded their letter (which I still have) to say that the listing would be updated upon clearence of the check. Because of this, I asked for a deletion on the grounds that they gave me misleading information, a violation of the FDCPA. My original question still stands though, should I call them back and insist it be updated immediately?
