Well- let me try to answer your original post.
A psychiatrist, whose name I don't remember, once taught me that the difference between a psychosis and a neurosis is that both were trying to deal with mental problems, a psychosis by escaping the reality of the problem, a neurosis by using countermeasures that work imperfectly. Bankruptcy is sort of like a neurosis, it creates new problems by dealing with the old.You cannot escape a debt problem completely. You can go crazy over it, kill yourself, get drunk, commit a robbery, but that is the psychotic way. You can, if you are lucky, pull yourself out of debt, pay things off, restore your financial health. That, or course, is the ideal way to go.But most people have gotten so far behind, both financially and emotionally, that it isn't realistic to recover. For them,in many cases, in most States, BK is the solution, a "neurotic" solution, but it works pretty well.
