The ship life was very interesting, tons of challenges as shore excursion managers and cruise directors were not thrilled with my presence, I was a port lecturer. I gave shopping talks about ports of call and the tax and duty free shopping. It was a wonderful experience and I highly recommend to anyone to try this unusual way of life. Its a great way to make friends from all over the world.

The Bahamas is something different again, a cultural difference and shock to live in a country where woman still vote themselves out of equal rights to men. This county is 50 years behind the times when it comes to this issue. I have found myself to be very found of Bahamians and especially true of the Bahamian "potcake" which is the national recognized dog breed of the Bahamas.
These dogs are wonderful loving, faithful companions, which unfortunately are treated terribly in this country and survive on the streets eating out of garbage and dieing of heartworm and AIDS.( different variety of this disease) I am very involved in a organization called A.W.A.R.E. ( animal welfare activists reforming education) we are trying to change the curriculum in this country to educate children to foster loving relationships with animals. We have a long road ahead of ourselves.
The Bahamas is a wonderful place to visit and have a terrific vacation, but to live here and see the hardship on a on going basis is heart breaking.
