Yes they can still come after you for as long as the debt remains unpaid But with a C & D letter they can not contact you

So, if a creditor can't verify a debt:

They are not allowed to collect the debt
They are not allow to contact you about the debt
They are also not allowed to report it under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). Doing so is a violation of the FCRA, and the FDCPA states that you can sue for $1,000 in damages for any violation of the act.


If the debt is old enuff (close to SOL) i doubt they file a judgement... ANd if they do file You have ammo... Keep yor records (the green card the letter you sent them etc...)

Again Your best bet is to read up on your credit reights...There are many good sites to read on.... I have done alot of research but occasionally cant find the answers.....again Good Luck to you
